BPU, owned by Minerva, finalizes details to resume slaughter
The BPU plant in Durazno, owned by the Minerva group, will resume slaughter in the first days of March. Labor issues have been resolved, and all that remains is to finalize the details for securing enough livestock to restart operations. “Everything is ready to go; we are organizing livestock, volume, and markets,” a company representative told WBR.
BPU last slaughtered in late August of last year, so it will have been inactive for seven months. Minerva took over the plant in September 2023. In the 12 months through August 2024, it processed 144,170 cattle.
