JBS to invest US$100 million in two plants in Vietnam

One day after Vietnam opened its market to Brazilian beef, JBS signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnamese government to build processing units and logistics centers in the country. JBS will process beef, pork, and poultry there. The company announced last Saturday its intention to invest US$100 million in the construction of two factories, according to The AgriBiz.

The MOU (memorandum of understanding) outlines the construction of a logistics center with storage capacity that also includes preprocessing, cutting, and packaging activities in Khu công nghiệp Nam Đình Vũ, an economic zone near the capital, Hanoi. Two years after operations begin at this first unit, a new logistics center and another processing plant are planned for southern Vietnam.

JBS stressed that this project reinforces its geographic diversification strategy. “This initiative not only strengthens our ability to serve the local market but also expands our global presence, creating a robust and sustainable production chain that makes us even more competitive internationally,” said Renato Costa, president of Friboi, in a statement.
