Sharp drop in finished cattle prices

Prices for finished cattle weakened significantly over the past week. Initially, processors cut their list prices by about 10 cents, but by early this week some major plants were quoting prices 20 cents below last week’s levels, with standard male cattle at US$ 3.50 per kg carcass weight and fat cows at US$ 3.30.
