Buzz in the US market over potential tariff hikes
Import price references for the US market did not change significantly over the past week, but “a certain buzz” is developing over the possibility that the Trump administration may impose higher tariffs on beef suppliers who run a trade deficit with the United States. For now, Argentina and Uruguay appear more vulnerable, as Brazil’s trade balance is even. One trader cited references of US$/t 4,750 FOB for a forequarter 90 CL and US$/t 5,000 for a 95 CL.
