On Wednesday, February 13, China authorized the import of meat from 21 meat-processing plants in various countries around the world, but none of them produce beef.
The firm OIG+X announced the authorization of plants producing poultry (three from France and one from Thailand), venison (one from New Zealand), sheep meat (two from Australia), as well as 14 Spanish plants producing pork or pork by-products.
This authorization applies to products stored or produced starting on February 13, 2025.
China is conducting a study on the impact of beef imports on domestic cattle prices, which was likely considered when deciding not to authorize any additional beef-producing plants.
