Uruguay sees a positive outcome from hearing in China
The president of Uruguay’s National Meat Institute (INAC), Gastón Scayola, appeared this Monday in China regarding the government’s investigation into the alleged negative impact that beef imports have had on local producers. Late last year, China’s Ministry of Commerce launched an investigation into the surge of beef imports, as the world’s largest beef importer and consumer faced an oversupplied market that drove domestic beef prices to multi-year lows. According to World Beef Report, INAC officials described the result of the hearing as “very positive.”
