The time Sirsil will remain out of China “won’t be long,” said Fratti

During the ceremony for the inauguration of INAC’s top officials, the Minister of Livestock, Alfredo Fratti, said he expects that Sirsil will soon once again be authorized to export beef to China.

Fratti stated that the suspension of this plant was not due to the presence of fluazuron detected by Chinese health authorities at the beginning of the year —about which the plant had been warned— but rather the result of minor observations made afterward, which the company has already corrected. “The Ministry of Livestock will endorse the improvements made at the plant this week,” he said, “so we assume the time it remains out of China will not be extended.”

The notification of China’s suspension of Sirsil’s authorization took effect on March 3.
