Cattle slaughter moderates in Mato Grosso

Cattle slaughter in Mato Grosso, Brazil’s main cattle-producing state, fell by 9.3% month-on-month and by 3.8% year-on-year in February, totaling 557.7 thousand head, according to Imea. This decrease occurred despite a continued high level of cow slaughter. With 311.8 thousand females slaughtered, they accounted for 56% of the total. “This is due to sending to slaughter females that failed to conceive in the last breeding period,” Imea explained.
